White and red cake

12.27.2008

How was your holidays?!?! Mine was great. We got to see everyone. It was a blast. A friend of mine celebrated her Grandmother's 80th birthday with her the day after Christmas. She wanted a simple cake and I didn't mind a bit. Christmas is a crazy time to be baking a large cake.

So here it is. My first time ever using real ribbon on a cake. Tell me what you think. The picture is aweful, as usual. If you can believe it the cake was white in person.

I just finished building a light box so hopefully my pictures will be getting better. :) Have a great week!!

Paper Gift Bows

12.19.2008

You'll need the tutorial to get the hang of it. SplitCoast Tutorial has great pictures and even has a link to a gallery of more bows that other people made!

You all already know I don't do the whole measuring thing, right? You shouldn't be afraid to wing this one. I ended up with some really cool sizes by winging it.

Inked edges are done with SU! Close to Coca brown. Chatterbox paper. I have that addiction.  : )  As always click to view the larger picture. Christmas double sided paper would be stunning! I had to try out my first couple with paper I didn't mind using. Always save your scraps! Many of my mini albums, coaster albums and little projects are made with paper from my scrap bin. MERRY CHRISTMAS!!! See you all next year. Remember January brings another giveaway!

Organizer & Cake

12.14.2008

My version of the Clip it Up. :)  It's a drapery rod with round clip rings. Easy to find stuff in just about any store that sells curtains.
It's really helping me get organized. I really need about 2 more to get all my rub ons and stickers up and out of the boxes and binders. lol! Right now it's aa big ol mess but soon I'll have it all seperated by subject.

So, I love Cake Wrecks. There's a link in my sidebar for those of you who haven't seen it. It's addictive and super funny. Sadly though I am now up to 2 wrecks of my own. The fallen pineapple (below) and now my crooked logo Coca-Cola bottle cap.

In my defense, I piped it free handed. I know that's a no-no and now I see why. ROTFL!! No more free handed piping words for me. From now on it's a piping gel transfer endeavor.   : )

It's time to talk Christmas!

12.06.2008

This isn't a great picture. You can't even see the topper. I have a black and white Christmas tree. I'm strange I know. As a person who said "I will never have a fake tree" you can imagine my family's surprise to come in and see my great white fake tree all decked out with black and white ornaments. I'm not done with it yet. Black and white ornaments aren't easy to find. Glitter on the other hand....

The clear glass ball ornaments are perfect for those of us with off-beat colors. It's a great kid craft! Check out Aurora's blog for ones she made. I like Martha's Glitter Glue and her fine glitters. Simply cover the ball, or use tape to mark off a pattern, with the glitter glue and sprinkle glitter over it. Hang to dry and believe it or not it works. It's so pretty too.

I also had fun blog-surfing and found this gem. It's paper snowflakes!! Her's look great in 2 tone but I wanted to try plain ol' white. I'm so colorful all year that when it comes time for Christmas I'm a white lights kinda girl. Weird huh?

The only thing I'd change is using the red tape like Therm-o-web to do this. It's easier than using the liquid glue in my opinion. I pretty much winged it, as I am not into measuring and it did pretty good. There's no staples in mine either, all 2 sided tape.

You're wanting the blog link right about now.  ;)
It's Paper Snowflake Tutorial.

I'm in a contest!

I have to tell you. I've been pretty sick. Promise to be back in full force with Christmas crafts we can all do and enjoy. I have some fun stuff planned.

In the mean time, here is a couple of cards.
SU! stamps and ink.
The top card has MME paper and I love that punch. I just can't get enough of it. The pull out card is just Bazzill cardstock.
If you have time please vote, even if you vote for one of the other blogs. ;) They are great blogs!

**Edit: Removed contest information. Voting is closed. Thanks everyone who voted for me!! You're the best!
